A DSHS-approved training program built on community, compassion, and career opportunity.
Wellspring Home Health Training Academy (also known as Wellspring Home Health Training Center) is a DSHS-approved 75-hour Home Care Aide (HCA) training program located in Lakewood, Washington, in Pierce County. We specialize in personalized, supportive instruction, delivering high-quality, hands-on caregiver education with rolling enrollment throughout the year.
Our program follows the official DSHS 75-hour curriculum in a flexible hybrid format. Students complete interactive online theory modules combined with in-person skills labs. Classes are offered in an intensive 2-week (10-day) format or evenings/weekends to accommodate working adults.
Upon successful completion, graduates receive DSHS HCA certification eligibility and American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification.

Guided by experience, driven by compassion
BSc., MSHA, RRT
Joyce Ibanga brings over 15 years of hands-on experience in home health administration and respiratory therapy to every class she teaches. Her caregiving philosophy centers on the belief that exceptional care begins with deep respect — for the patient, the family, and the caregiver themselves. She designs each training session to build not just technical competency, but the emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity that truly set great caregivers apart.
As a DSHS-certified HCA trainer and Registered Respiratory Therapist, Joyce draws on real clinical scenarios to make the curriculum come alive, ensuring students leave the classroom confident, prepared, and ready to make a difference from day one. Her commitment to personalized learning means every student receives individualized guidance and mentorship throughout their journey at Wellspring.
I became a trainer because I believe every caregiver deserves to feel truly prepared — not just to pass a test, but to walk into a patient’s home with confidence, compassion, and the skills to make a real difference. At Wellspring, we don’t just teach caregiving; we cultivate caregivers who lead with their hearts and act with precision. That is the standard I hold myself to, and the standard I bring to every student I have the privilege of teaching.
