A one-day intensive review for students who have already completed their 75-hour HCA training — whether through Wellspring or another organization. Includes hands-on skills lab practice at our Lakewood office with Joyce.

Full-day intensive review covering HCA competencies and hands-on skills lab practice with Joyce.
Location

Knowledge Review
Core topics covered during the knowledge portion of the review day.
1. Roles & Responsibilities of HCA
- •Scope of practice (what you can & cannot do)
- •Client rights & confidentiality (HIPAA basics)
- •Reporting requirements (abuse, neglect, changes in condition)
- •Always follow the client's Care Plan — it is your legal guide
- •Document observations clearly, accurately, and on time
2. Infection Control
- •Wash hands for at least 20 seconds before and after client contact
- •Use PPE (gloves, masks) when there is risk of exposure to body fluids
- •Standard Precautions apply to all clients
- •Bloodborne pathogens, COVID & common infections
- •Proper disposal of contaminated materials
3. Safety & Emergency Procedures
- •Prevent falls: remove clutter, use good lighting, gait belt for transfers
- •Know emergency numbers and where the fire extinguisher is
- •Use proper body mechanics — bend at knees, not the waist
- •Fire, disaster, and medical emergency response
4. Basic Human Needs & Aging Process
- •Maslow's hierarchy in caregiving
- •Respect cultural and personal preferences
- •Recognize signs of dementia: confusion, agitation, wandering
- •Changes in elderly clients (physical, cognitive, sensory)
- •Promote independence and dignity at all times
Skills Review
Hands-on skills lab practice — the core of the review day.
Common Test Scenarios
- •What to do if client refuses care
- •Responding to a fall
- •Recognizing signs of stroke, heart attack, or low blood sugar
Test Strategies & Q&A
Final review segment to build confidence before the state exam.

Participant Agreement for One-Day Intensive HCA Crash Course
1. Course Details
- Course Name: Intensive One-Day HCA Crash Review (Skills & Knowledge Test Preparation)
- Time: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Location: 8815 S Tacoma Way, Suite 120, Lakewood, WA 98499
- Instructor: DSHS-Approved HCA Trainer
2. Eligibility
Student confirms they have successfully completed the required 75-hour DSHS-approved HCA training and will provide a copy of the certificate prior to payment and bring the original or copy plus a state-issued ID on the day of the course.
3. Payment Terms
- Total Fee: $300.00
- Full payment is charged at the time of registration to secure your spot.
- Payment is due after verification of the 75-hour certificate.
4. Course Content
The crash course includes intensive review of key knowledge topics and hands-on skills practice to prepare for the Washington State HCA Certification Exam. Attendance does not guarantee passage of the state exam.
5. Participant Responsibilities
- Arrive on time and prepared.
- Bring required documents (State ID + 75-hour certificate copy).
- Participate actively and follow all safety instructions.
- Respect the learning environment and other participants.
6. No-Refund Policy
- This course is non-refundable. No refunds will be issued once payment is made, regardless of cancellation or no-show.
- Provider reserves the right to cancel or reschedule with notice. In the event of a school-initiated cancellation, a full refund will be issued.
7. Liability Waiver & Release
Student releases Wellspring Home Health Center, LLC, its owners, instructors, and staff, from any liability for injuries, accidents, or damage occurring during the course, except those caused by gross negligence. Students agree to follow all safety protocols.
8. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Washington.
